Our mission

Hello, and thank you for being here at the beginning of Löwenbooks!

We are Ilja and Kate — a software engineer and a writer brought together by a shared love of books.

Over time, we kept returning to the same frustration: talented authors struggled to reach readers fairly, while readers struggled to discover books they would genuinely love.

So we started building Löwenbooks: a digital publishing platform where authors can publish sustainably, readers can discover new voices with confidence, and books are treated as creative work with real value.

Built for authors

We want publishing to feel accessible, sustainable, and rewarding for writers.

Authors on Löwenbooks can publish digitally, reach real readers, and keep a meaningful share of every sale. Our goal is to offer royalties in the 70–80% range because we believe creative work deserves to pay off.

We also believe digital publishing can help authors test ideas before investing in larger print runs or traditional publishing routes. Writers can learn what resonates, gather feedback, and improve their work using real audience signals instead of guesswork.

A home for readers

We want readers to feel comfortable discovering books here.

That means:

a clear and calm reading experience,
transparent pricing,
thoughtful discovery instead of overwhelming noise,
and a growing catalogue shaped by genuine reader interest.

When readers find authors they truly connect with, everyone benefits — readers, writers, and the wider literary community.

No subscription pools

We believe in straightforward book purchases rather than subscription-based access models.

In many subscription systems, author compensation becomes difficult to predict and disconnected from the value of individual books. We want payments to remain transparent, understandable, and directly connected to the stories readers choose to support.

Our goal is to create an ecosystem where writers are motivated to keep creating, growing, and building long-term relationships with their audience.

Built together with early users

Löwenbooks is already live and growing, but we are still actively testing and improving the platform.

Early readers and writers play an important role in shaping what comes next. Feedback, ideas, and real usage help us improve much faster than building in isolation.

If you join now, you are not simply creating an account — you are helping shape the future of the platform from the very beginning.

Some parts of the platform may still evolve quickly, and occasional imperfections are a natural part of that process. We see this as part of building thoughtfully and openly together with the community.

Reinvesting in the platform

We are building Löwenbooks for the long term.

Revenue from the platform is reinvested into improving the experience for authors and readers: better publishing tools, stronger infrastructure, platform stability, and thoughtful product development.

We care more about building a healthy ecosystem around books than chasing short-term extraction or rapid monetisation.

Working with the wider book world

We do not see digital publishing as something separate from the broader literary ecosystem.

Over time, we hope to cooperate with publishers, agencies, bookstores, and other partners where it helps authors reach more readers and brings great books to new audiences.

Digital-first publishing can complement traditional publishing — not replace it.

Growing book-writing culture

We want to encourage a culture where writing, sharing work, and improving through feedback feel natural and supported.

Many people have stories they want to tell but never publish. We hope Löwenbooks can make publishing feel more approachable.

Whether someone writes on weekends or full-time, we want the next step — sharing their work with readers — to feel a little less daunting.

Current stage and next steps

Löwenbooks is already available in its early form, and we are continuing to improve the platform together with our first readers and authors.

Right now, we are working closely with lawyers to prepare the legal structure behind the platform. This includes establishing the legal entity, finalising the royalty model, and preparing the necessary legal documentation to support sustainable publishing and transparent author payments.

Once this foundation is complete, we will integrate a full payment system and move toward the official public launch of the platform.

At the same time, we are focused on growing the community by inviting more authors and readers to join early, test the platform, share feedback, and help shape its future.

Development will continue to evolve based on real community input and practical experience from early users.
